Cadet College Fee Structure in Pakistan 2026-27: 10 Colleges Compared (Cheapest to Most Expensive)

Last updated: 5 November 2026

Quick answer: The monthly fee at a cadet college in Pakistan ranges from about Rs 5,000 (army soldiers’ sons at Military College Sui) to more than Rs 1.2 lakh (Cadet College Hasan Abdal). For a civilian family, most well-known cadet colleges cost between Rs 30,000 and Rs 45,000 a month, plus one-time joining charges of Rs 25,000 to Rs 1.95 lakh. The cheapest option for civilians is Military College Sui at Rs 16,500 a month. The most expensive is Cadet College Hasan Abdal.

Every year in admission season, the same thing happens. A parent gets the test date for one college, then hears about three others, and spends a week jumping between websites, PDFs and WhatsApp forwards trying to work out what each one actually costs. Half of those numbers are years old. Some are monthly, some quarterly, some per term, so you can’t even compare them properly.

So we did the boring part for you. Below, every college’s fee is converted to an approximate monthly figure for a civilian student, with the year of the schedule clearly marked. Click through to each college’s page for the full breakdown.

Military College Murree (MCM) Registration 2,000 to 4,000 Monthly dues not published online Ask the college Entry 2026 form

Monthly figures are worked out from the quarterly or term totals each college publishes, so they are close approximations, not official monthly rates. Most colleges raise fees by 8 to 10 percent a year, so add that if a schedule is more than a year old.

Why the same college can cost three different amounts

Military colleges run by the army (Jhelum, Murree, Sui) charge by parent category. A serving officer, a retired soldier and a civilian pay very different fees for exactly the same seat. At Military College Jhelum, for example, it’s Rs 18,000 a month for officers’ sons, Rs 8,000 for JCOs and soldiers, and Rs 33,000 for civilians. At Military College Sui it’s Rs 9,800, Rs 5,500 and Rs 16,500.

Cadet colleges run by boards of governors or provincial governments (Okara, Fateh Jang, Hasan Abdal, Tarbela) mostly charge everyone the same and then offer scholarships or concessions on top. Garrison Cadet College Kohat sits in between: one fee schedule, but defence families can get 30 to 60 percent off tuition.

So before you rule a college out on cost, check which category your family falls into. It can halve the bill.

Cheapest cadet colleges in Pakistan for civilians

  1. Military College Sui: Rs 16,500 a month. Hard to beat, but it’s in Dera Bugti, so travel adds up if you live in Punjab or Sindh.
  2. WAPDA Cadet College Tarbela: around Rs 31,400 a month for Class 8 to 10, but the joining cost is heavy at Rs 145,000 because kit money is charged upfront. WAPDA employees’ children get a monthly scholarship of Rs 4,000 to 5,000.
  3. Military College Jhelum: Rs 33,000 a month for civilians, much less for army families.

If budget is the main concern, these three are where to start.

Most expensive cadet colleges

Cadet College Hasan Abdal is in a class of its own at Rs 124,182 a month for the 2026 entry, with nearly Rs 2 lakh due at joining. You’re paying for the name, the alumni network and the facilities. Next come Fateh Jang, Okara and Garrison Cadet College Kohat, all in the Rs 40,000 to 45,000 range.

Class 11 (first year) fees at cadet colleges

Lots of parents search for “cadet college monthly fees for 11th class”, and the answer depends on whether your son is already a cadet:

  • Existing cadets usually just continue at the same rate. At Cadet College Kohat, they pay only Rs 5,000 re-admission.
  • New lateral entry students pay full joining charges again. At CCK that’s Rs 75,000, or Rs 200,000 under the Lateral Entry Scheme.
  • Self-finance seats are the most expensive: Garrison Cadet College Kohat charges Rs 300,000 one-time for a Class 11 self-finance seat.
  • Term fees go up in college classes at some places. WAPDA Tarbela charges Rs 139,522 per term for Class 11 and 12, compared with Rs 125,472 in the school section.

The real yearly cost: what the fee table leaves out

Every college’s fee table covers tuition, boarding and food. None of them cover everything. When we ask parents of current cadets what surprised them in the first year, these come up every time:

  • Uniforms, shoes and sports kit (some colleges, like Tarbela, include kit money in joining charges; most don’t)
  • Travel at the start and end of every term, plus parents’ visiting days
  • Books, stationery and board exam fees
  • Pocket money (included in the fee at MCJ and MCSB, extra elsewhere)
  • Late payment fines, which are steep. MCSB adds 20 percent a month, Hasan Abdal charges Rs 200 a day, and Batrasi can discharge a cadet after 30 days of non-payment.

A sensible rule: add 15 to 25 percent to the published annual fee to get your real budget.

How to bring the cost down

  • Use your category. Army, FC, Rangers and MES families pay much less at military colleges. Bring proof to the interview.
  • Ask about shuhada and merit scholarships. MCSB gives scholarships to its top three position holders, and shuhada children pay almost nothing.
  • Check employer schemes. WAPDA employees get monthly scholarships at Tarbela.
  • Apply on time. Late admission fees are small, but missing the main entry and joining later through lateral entry or self-finance can cost lakhs more.
  • Apply to more than one college. Test dates rarely clash, and a seat at a cheaper college is a strong fallback.

Which cadet college is right for your budget?

If you’re an army family, the three military colleges (Jhelum, Murree and Sui) offer the best value in the country. If you’re a civilian family with a budget around Rs 30,000 a month, look at MCSB, Tarbela and MCJ. If you can stretch to Rs 40,000 to 45,000, Okara, Fateh Jang and Garrison Cadet College Kohat open up. Hasan Abdal is the premium choice for families who can comfortably pay over a lakh a month.

Whatever you choose, read the fee rules as carefully as the fee itself. Refund policies, late fines and annual increases make a bigger difference over five years than a few thousand rupees in the monthly rate.
